SUNY Plattsburgh provides access to several artificial intelligence (AI) services through existing campus agreements. This page is the starting point for learning which services are available, signing in with the correct institutional account, and using AI responsibly for university work.
Use your SUNY Plattsburgh account. Personal and campus accounts can look very similar. Before entering university information, confirm that you are signed in with your @plattsburgh.edu account.
Protect university information. Do not enter personal, sensitive, confidential, or other Protected Information into an AI service unless ITS has reviewed and approved that specific use.
Campus-provided AI chat services
The following services are available through SUNY Plattsburgh's institutional agreements:
- Google Gemini — available through the university's Google Workspace for Education environment.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat — available through the university's Microsoft 365 environment.
- Zoom AI — available through the university's Zoom Workplace environment.
Additionally, the MyPlattsburgh portal has a "MyPlattsburgh Agent" chatbot feature and ITS uses a "Virtual Technician" chatbot on the ITS portal.

Check which account you are using
This short video demonstrates how to sign in and confirm that you are using your SUNY Plattsburgh account in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Google Gemini.
Responsible use
- Protect privacy. Do not enter Protected Information unless ITS has approved the specific use after a documented risk review.
- Be transparent. Follow applicable requirements for citation, attribution, or disclosure of AI use.
- Follow academic requirements. Instructors determine the permitted level of AI use for their courses and assignments.
- Verify AI output. AI-generated responses can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or biased.
- Maintain human oversight. A qualified person remains responsible for reviewing the work and making decisions.
