Using Google Gemini with Your SUNY Plattsburgh Account

Google Gemini is available through SUNY Plattsburgh's Google Workspace for Education environment. Use your campus account for university work and verify the account before entering information.

Before entering information: Do not enter personal, sensitive, confidential, or other Protected Information unless ITS has reviewed and approved that specific use.

Sign in with your campus account

  1. Go to gemini.google.com.
  2. Select Sign in if prompted.
  3. Enter your SUNY Plattsburgh email address ending in @plattsburgh.edu.
  4. Complete the SUNY Plattsburgh sign-in and Duo prompts.

If Gemini opens under a personal Google account, open the account menu and switch to your SUNY Plattsburgh account. If the campus account is not listed, select Add another account and complete the campus sign-in process.

Verify the account

Confirm both of the following before using Gemini for university work:

  • Edu appears below your name in the lower-left corner.
  • The account menu shows your @plattsburgh.edu email address and Managed by plattsburgh.edu.

If you do not see Edu

  1. Open the account menu and check the displayed email address.
  2. If it is not your campus address, switch accounts or sign out.
  3. Sign in again with your @plattsburgh.edu address.

Important usage guidance

  • Verify important claims, calculations, citations, and quotations before using or sharing an AI-generated response.
  • Follow course and assignment requirements for academic use.
  • Follow applicable citation, attribution, and disclosure requirements.
  • Remember that a campus account does not authorize every type of university information.
