Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is available through SUNY Plattsburgh's Microsoft 365 environment. Use your campus account for university work and verify that Copilot shows the work experience before entering information.
Before entering information: Do not enter personal, sensitive, confidential, or other Protected Information unless ITS has reviewed and approved that specific use.
Sign in with your campus account
- Go to Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat.
- Select Sign in with Microsoft if prompted.
- Enter your SUNY Plattsburgh email address ending in @plattsburgh.edu.
- Complete the SUNY Plattsburgh sign-in and multifactor authentication prompts.
If Copilot opens under a personal Microsoft account, use the account menu to sign out or select Sign in with a different account, then sign in with your campus account.
Verify the account
Confirm both of the following before using Copilot for university work:
- Work appears next to your name in the lower-left corner.
- Selecting your name shows your @plattsburgh.edu email address.
The interface may display a license label such as Copilot Chat (Basic). That label describes available features. The Work indicator and campus email address confirm which account you are using.
If you do not see Work
- Select your name or profile and check the displayed email address.
- If it is not your campus address, sign out or choose a different account.
- Sign in again with your @plattsburgh.edu address.
Important usage guidance
- Verify important claims, calculations, citations, and quotations before using or sharing an AI-generated response.
- Follow course and assignment requirements for academic use.
- Follow applicable citation, attribution, and disclosure requirements.
- Remember that a campus account does not authorize every type of university information.
