CLASSROOM QUICK TIPS

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: x2230

Difficulty with Equipment:

Try the tips below, if you still have difficulty, use the phone on the podium to call x2230 for technical assistance. If the problem is not urgent (your class can continue in spite of the problem), please use the Report a Problem icon on the computer’s desktop to notify technicians of the issue. 99% of the time a problem with the teaching station computer can be solved by a restart! Please try restarting the computer once BEFORE calling for assistance.

Report a Problem:

Click the Report a Problem link on the desktop of the teaching station computer. Choose Plattsburgh for your campus. Login using your NetId.  Enter a Short Description similar to an email subject, for example “Beaumont 401-No display from projector”. In the last box, please fill in as much detail as you can while keeping it brief. Please clearly specify which room you are in. Click the Submit button, please include the SUNY tag # of the computer. A ticket will be created and email sent to you as well as the ITS technicians.

If you only see the Plattsburgh logo on the projection screen, press the Windows key and P on the keyboard.  A window will open with display options, select Duplicate.

Changing the Audio Volume:

If there is no sound coming from the computer, it may have been turned down or muted using the volume control in the system tray (near the clock). If the volume is still too low, turn the Volume dial on the Extron Controller (pictured below).

Using a Laptop:

All Smart and Computer classrooms are equipped with HDMI cables. Plug the cable into your laptop.  Start your laptop, you may need to be adjusted to use the external monitor (this can typically be done by hitting a function key, typically Fn + an F key at the top of the keyboard).

Software Installs:

All changes are erased on a reboot. If you require special software, you will need to request the software be installed by a technician.  License information must be provided. Email requests to helpdesk@plattsburgh.edu
