How do I use my Poly Edge Desk Phone?

For a full detailed list of directions for using your desk phone, please see Zoom's online documentation here. Below are directions for most the basic tasks you will need to use your desk phone.

Please note that the screen on the poly desk phones is not a touch screen, they will have buttons under or to the side of the options presented on the screen. There are some physical buttons for some of the directions below, an image is at the end of this article with labels for the physical buttons.


Make a call with the handset

  1. Lift the phone handset
  2. Enter the the phone number you wish to call(no PBN or pressing '8' before the number required for off campus numbers)
  3. Press the button under Send on the screen

Make a call with speaker phone

  1. Press the button under New Call on the screen.
  2. Enter the the phone number you wish to call(no PBN or pressing '8' before the number required for off campus numbers)
  3. Press the button under Send on the screen

How to put a call on hold and take it off hold

  • While on a call press the button under the Hold option on the screen.
  • When the call is on hold, the Hold option on the screen will change to Resume, click the button under the Resume option to take the call off hold.

Transfer a call

  • There are two ways to transfer a call:
    • Blind or Cold transfer, transfers the call to another number/extension with no interaction between the person transferring the call and the new recipient of the call.
    • Warm or Consultative transfer involves the person transferring the call to speak to the new recipient of the call before the transfer is completed.
  • Perform a blind transfer
  1. While on a call, press the button under the Transfer option on the screen
  2. Press the button under the Blind Transfer option on the screen
  3. Enter the destination phone number.
  4. Press the button under Send on the screen.
  • Perform a Warm transfer
  1. While on a call, press the button under the Transfer option on the screen
  2. Press the button under the Consultative Transfer option on the screen.
  3. Enter the destination phone number.
  4. Press the button under Send on the screen
  5. After speaking with the recipient of the call, press the button under the Send option on the screen, this will complete the transfer.

Check voice mails

  1. Press the physical home button(located to the right of the direction pad)
  2. Use the directional pad to select messages.
  3. Press the accept button in the middle of the directional pad.
  4. Press the button under the Select option on the screen.
  5. Use the direction pad to select the different options(Urgent, New, Old)
  6. Press the button under the Connect option to play voice mails in the selected category.

Adjust phone volume

The volume can be adjusted with the + and buttons to the left of the number pad.
